Build Your Blogging Audience with Consistency

This is a quick entry today to help grow your audience. The trick here is to stay consistent so your audience knows what to expect and when to expect it.
It’s simple … creatures like consistency. We like to know when things happen. We love knowing DVDs and CDs are released on Tuesday. We like having new movies come out on Friday. We Tivo our television based on schedules. Why not give your audience and readership the same commitment. And don’t worry if you break your schedule … it’s not a huge problem. But it does give your readership a reason to ask you “Where did you go?” That’s a great indicator that your readers care.
Also post your schedule somewhere. Let people know when you are posting. This can be done with a sidebar widget or if you are using a calendar system (like Windows Live Calendar) you can add an event that will display on your webpage (this is what I do). Then people will know when you are posting and what you are posting about. It’s nice.
So you’re 10 minute tip of the day? Figure out what your posting schedule is going to be. It doesn’t have to be intensive. Start slow with a post a month. Then move to post every two weeks. Your schedule can change, but it should be consistent. And remember only do what you think you can do.
This will help immensely by giving your audience a knowledge of what you are writing. Once they understand what to expect from you it will help with knowing the quality of information they will be receiving. And remember … like G.I. Joe said … knowing is half the battle. The other half? Well that’s the information we need to know about.
So give me some information and let me know what your schedule is going to be. I could always use more ammunition.
